Our background
PhD in marine ecology, Delphine Mallet created the start-up VISIOON. She has been working on the analysis of marine biodiversity sampling videos for 13 years in New Caledonia. Her experience and knowledge on image processing for marine biodiversity led her to develop innovative digital solutions in collaboration with the University of La Rochelle and Axelle Pochet (PhD on computer science). The VISIOON team knows very well the difficulties encountered when we wish to count and identify fish on in situ videos. Even if the exercise seems simple, it is not in reality. As proof despite the immense progress that we know in terms of image processing (artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and more) as well as the worldwide race started 15 years ago on the subject, no functional solution is currently available to analyze your own sampling videos. The implementation is complex and the results of research work do not yet answered the needs of professionals and individuals.
A different approach for useful and sustainable solutions
Our patented approach differs because we do not focus on detecting species by learning how to identify them. In order to be able to process all the videos whatever the organisms, we focus our work on video processing. Then to save time and increase accuracy, we focus the identification phase of each individual by targeting the moment when (and where) it is the most easily identifiable on the video.
A leading IT Start-up
At VISIOON, our main goal is finding smart ways of using technology that will help build a better tomorrow for everyone, everywhere. We believe that our solutions will soon become one of the biggest segments in wildlife imagery processing. We’ve only just started, but we already know that every product we build requires hard-earned skills, dedication and a daring attitude.
